Therapy With Rachel Sailer

Your 20s and 30s are supposed to be exciting,  so why does it sometimes feel like everyone else has life figured out except you?

Maybe you're in college or graduate school trying to keep up with everything. Maybe you're starting your career, navigating dating and relationships, watching friendships change, or trying to figure out what you actually want your life to look like.

You might look like you're doing fine from the outside while internally you're overthinking everything.
You may be:

  • Constantly comparing yourself to friends or people online
  • Overthinking relationships, dating, friendships, school, or your future
  • Feeling behind when everyone around you seems to be moving forward
  • Struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or pressure to have it all together
  • Going through a transition and realizing you aren't really sure who you are or what you want anymore

You don't need to have a major crisis to want support. Sometimes you just want a place where you can figure yourself out without everyone else giving you their opinion.

  • Have trouble setting boundaries or saying no because you don't want to disappoint people

I don't think the goal of your 20s and 30s is to have everything figured out. Therapy can help you become more comfortable trusting yourself while you're still figuring things out.

Together, we can work toward helping you:

  • Make decisions without analyzing every possible outcome
  • Build healthier relationships without losing yourself in them
  • Set boundaries and communicate what you actually need
  • Feel less controlled by comparison, perfectionism, anxiety, or other people's expectations
  • Understand yourself well enough to build a life that actually feels like yours

The goal isn't to create a perfect version of yourself. It's to help you feel more grounded in who you already are.

Benefits of Therapy for Dating & Relationship Therapy for Young Adults in Denver

I'm not here to sit across from you and tell you how you should live your life. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can bring the things you overthink at 1 a.m., the relationship situation you've already talked about with your friends 15 times, the career decision you can't stop questioning, and the parts of yourself you're still trying to understand.

We'll look at what keeps getting you stuck, where some of those patterns come from, and what might help you respond differently. My work is especially focused on relationships, attachment, anxiety, OCD, boundaries, emotional regulation, and the patterns that can make relationships and adulthood feel harder than they need to.

Depending on what you're coming to therapy for, I may incorporate attachment-focused therapy, EMDR, IFS, somatic work, EFT, and practical tools you can actually use outside of our sessions. You don't need to know exactly what you need before reaching out. That's something we can figure out together.

My Approach to Dating & Relationship Therapy for Young Adults in Denver

What The first few Sessions Look like

1. We Build Safety First

In our first session, we'll meet together and talk about what brings you to therapy, what feels difficult right now, and what you hope will change

Before we jump into changing anything, I want to get to know you.
That means building trust, creating a space where you don't feel judged, and helping you feel comfortable enough to be honest about what's really going on.
I know therapy can feel vulnerable, so I don't expect you to tell me everything on day one.
We'll move at a pace that feels safe.

2. We Get Curious

One thing you'll probably notice is that I ask a lot of questions. Not because I'm looking for the "right" answer... But because I genuinely want to understand you.

We'll explore things like:
  • your relationships
  • your family
  • your childhood
  • your emotional experiences
  • the ways you've learned to cope
  • what your nervous system has experienced
  • what has shaped who you are today

I'm less interested in asking "What's wrong with you? "I'm much more interested in asking,"What happened to you?" and "how did the relationships in your life influence the way you connect with others today?"

3. We Begin Connecting the Dots

In our third session, we'll come back together and recap what We've learned so we can start making sense of the patterns happening between you.

As I get to know you, We'll start noticing patterns.

I'll often share observations like,
  • "I'm wondering if these two experiences might be connected."or "This actually makes a lot of sense given what you've been through."
  • This is where I bring in psychoeducation, attachment theory, EMDR, IFS, neuroscience, and relational research.
  • Not to overwhelm you with information… But to help you understand yourself, gain self-awareness with more compassion for yourself and your relationships.

4. We Build Awareness

Understanding yourself doesn't automatically create change. But awareness changes everything. Once we can recognize patterns... we're no longer stuck reacting automatically.

Instead we can slow things down and ask:
  • What am I feeling?
  • What am I needing?
  • Where did I learn this?
  • Is this response still serving me today?

That awareness creates choice.

5. We Practice Something Different & Keep Practicing (it takes time)

Healing isn't just insight. It's creating new experiences.

Together we'll begin experimenting with new ways of:
  • communicating
  • setting boundaries
  • regulating emotions
  • asking for needs
  • responding during conflict
  • relating to yourself
  • relating to the people you love

Over time those new experiences begin creating new patte. Because these patterns were often developed over many years, meaningful change doesn't happen overnight. It happens through consistent practice, repetition, and new relational experiences. Over time, those new experiences begin to feel more natural, creating lasting change both in your relationships and within yourself.

No. You don't need a diagnosis or one specific problem to come to therapy. You might simply know that you're overwhelmed, stuck in the same patterns, struggling in your relationships, or ready to understand yourself better.

Do you work with college and graduate students?

Yes. I work with young adults navigating college, graduate school, relationships, friendships, anxiety, family dynamics, career decisions, and the transition into adulthood.

Yes! I offer both in-person and virtual therapy to give you options for what works best with your schedules.
